New Ownership and Management at the Cape Cod Central!
A new era in Cape Cod railroading began on February 10th, 2006 with the announcement of new owners and management at one of Cape Cod's
premier and most popular attractions, the Cape Cod Central Railroad.
As the new owners and operators of the Cape Cod Central, we pledge to you, our customers, to continue to offer the
wonderful entertainment experiences that you have come to know and expect. And don't worry, all currently issued tickets
and gift certificates will still be honored!
Our new owners and corporate officers are:
- P. Christopher Podgurski, Principal Investor & Chairman - Currently President & owner of Podgurski Corporation, an excavation, utility and heavy construction company, and Springdale Realty Corporation of Canton, MA. Mr. Podgurski is a summer resident of Pocasset.
- John F. Kennedy, Investor, President & Chief Executive Officer - Currently C.E.O. of CapeLight Corporation, a transportation consulting business. Mr. Kennedy was an original co-founder and former President of Cape Cod Central Railroad from 1999 to 2003, and concentrated his career on New England area railroad operations for 25 years, and is a resident of Marstons Mills.
- Andrew J. Reardon, CPA, Investor & Chief Financial Officer - Currently a partner of Reardon & Company CPAs, LLP of Quincy, MA, a public accounting and tax preparation firm. Mr. Reardon is a summer resident of West Dennis.
- Alfred E. (Ted) Michon, Investor & Executive Vice President - Currently an international railroad consultant, from North Falmouth, MA. Mr. Michon is a former President, CEO and Executive for several regional, Class I and international railroad corporations for over forty years.
The new owners will continue to operate a high quality rail, dining and excursion service while implementing improvements and enhancements for the 2006 season, tentatively set to commence in April and continuing through the end of the year. Watch our website for further details on schedules and upcoming events: www.CapeTrain.com, or call 508-771-3800.
"With our collective backgrounds in railroads, business management, customer service, hospitality and community service," Kennedy said, "we plan on placing the emphasis on exceeding our guests' expectations and providing a level of service that will not soon be forgotten after the train rolls into the station. My continued emphasis on a 'Good Neighbor' and 'Open Door' policy toward each community is especially important to all of us. We are dedicated to preserving this great Cape Cod tradition for years to come."
Chef Richard Davis, owner of Jillian's of North Falmouth, remains Head Chef and Caterer for all Dinner, Brunch and Luncheon trains, as well as special events (weddings, corporate & group events, parties, etc.). Mr. Davis has been providing the fine dining services since the mid-1990's that has helped the Railroad garner national and local acclaim.
Edward Cochran will remain as General Manager. Mr. Kennedy brought Ed aboard the company in 2001 and said, "He is a professional and committed manager. We are delighted to announce his continued role with us."
Mr. Podgurski has been interested in railroad operations for many years. His longtime association and common interests with Kennedy, Reardon and Michon to operate safe, efficient and community-conscious rail service has led to this venture. "Our expectations are to improve upon what Mr. Kennedy and others have worked so hard to create here on the Cape," Podgurski said. "I am delighted to be a part of this organization."
Mr. Michon added, "Having been a Cape Codder and a railroader all of my life, I am eager to finally merge these two passions,"
The railroad was purchased from Timothy L. Biliouris, MD, a primary care physician in Dennis, MA, and Philip R. Doherty, owner of a textile business in Sandwich, MA. Dr. Biliouris stated that, "I am thankful to have such a sincere and competent group to take over where we left off."
All of us at the Cape Cod Central look forward to serving our customers and the community of Cape Cod for many years to come. Thank you for your patronage and support!
